Motion Design

My Experience:

My video editing experience, began with my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Ottawa. Part of the program was a studio class in multimedia art. This was my introduction to video and sound editing. In my second year in University, I was able to have an opportunity to be a teacher's assistant for this class as a part-time job. This position involved helping students with their multimedia projects and solve equipment issues. Also in this role, I filmed visiting artist's presentations and edited the video.

This video editing experience progressed further with my Diploma in Digital Animation from Algonquin College. The program involved studying both traditional and digital animation. From the program I learned the 12 basic principles of animation. The Digital Animation Program at Algonquin College also involved 3D modelling of backgrounds, props and characters and computer animation using Maya. 2D animation software of Toonboom Harmony and Adobe Flash (Animate) were also taught. My third year project involved creating an animated short and demo reel. These projects were edited using Final Cut Pro.

My animation experience transitioned to motion design through my position in the E-Learning industry. A number of E-Learning courses I worked on were video first situational courses, which included animating text, photographs and visual effects. Other E-Learning videos included software simulations and animated segments with characters. Sound editing was also completed through Audacity. The creation of E-Learning videos continued in my role with the public service.

I am knowledgable in working with timelines, layering/masking, transitions, and effects using the following applications: Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Animate, and Final Cut Pro.
