I started posting to Instagram in 2017, for my abstract painting project, that I was working on at the time. I posted photos of my abstract paintings with a link to my etsy shop in the description.
I noticed from etsy's dashboard that some of my shop's traffic was from the Instagram posts. In 2018, I decided to stop working on that project and focus on
design. That experience taught me that consistent posting on Instagram did lead to traffic to my etsy shop, and increased my possibility of sales.
My main interest with social media is to help businesses, department and organizations grow and succeed using Instagram with my design skills and knowledge. Part of my daily design practice is to
research design techniques and strategies. There is a marketing rule of seven that states: that a potential customer must interact with a brand at least seven times before they consider making a
purchase. Creating social media posts for Instagram is very similar to my design experience within the E-Learning industry and the public service, to which, I have a combined experience of 15 years.
By looking at your website, industry, and field, I believe I can create an endless supply of content for your social media accounts and make your social media accounts an extension of your brand.
The layout of Instagram posts share a similarity to designing for E-Learning and PowerPoint slides. Instead of a horizontal rectangular design with visual elements and complimenting text displayed in slides,
Instagram has square layout for posts and vertical rectangular layout for Reels and the written content is presented in the description field similar to slide notes in PowerPoint presentations.
The key with Instagram is consistency in posting. The algorithm rewards it. According to the marketing rule of seven, if you can get Instagram users to interact or see your posts at least seven
times, it leads to brand awareness and could lead to a potential client. I understand branding and can work with your style guide or create one for your team if needed. The level of work to create
posts for your Instagram account is similar to my experience in designing for E-Learning, where courses consisted of 50 to 250 slides. At one post a day, that would be 50 to 250 days worth of content
and increases the possibility of meeting the rule of seven.
My experience in animation, motion design and video editing, translates easily into creating Instagram reels. I studied and received a Diploma in Digital Animation from
Algonquin College. The program involved studying both traditional and digital animation. I am knowledgeable in the 12 basic principles of animation and with layering effects in video editing software I can
add complementary motion designs and animations to your videos. Through my position in the E-Learning industry, I created a number of E-Learning courses that were video first situational courses,
which included animating text, photographs and visual effects. I am proficient in the following video editing, motion design and animation software: Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Animate, and
Final Cut Pro. My knowledge and experience in these applications can elevate your Instagram reels to a new level.
I believe with my extensive experience in illustration and motion design matched with past experiences of working with subject matter experts, content and technical writers, that I have an understanding of what it takes to
